Book of the Dead, Spell 125, The Weighing of the Heart, Judgement of Osiris

This may be the closest you will ever come to holding a piece of the Book of the Dead in your own hands.   This is an exact copy of the the orginal illustration of Spell 125 from the Book of the Dead.  This section of the book is from the Book of the Dead for the Chantress of Amun Nauny.  This section is best known as "The Weighing of the Heart" or "The Judgement of Osiris".

On the left Nauny stands in the Hall of Judgement, holding her eyes and mouth in her hand.  Anubis, protector of the dead holds the scales as he weighs Nauny's heart against the goddess of virture and order, Maat.  Thoth looks on ready to give his wise counsel.  Osiris, god of the underworld, sits on the right side ready to pass judgment on Nauny.
